How Meghan Trainor Learned to Love Her Body
The singer shared her secrets on self-acceptance with "Seventeen" magazine.
-- Grammy winner Meghan Trainor is opening up about how she learned to love her body after years of feeling like she had to hide. The singer is showing off what’s she got on a special two-cover edition of Seventeen magazine.
“I got picked on a lot for being pale when I was younger, and that really shook me up,” she said in the interview.
She revealed loving her body wasn’t always easy. “For a good six years, I wore sweatpants and sweatshirts, even on vacation in 90-degree weather," she said. "I was hiding … I want to hug that girl. I want to tell her, ‘You’re ok.’”
Last February she told ABC News’ Dan Harris that it was her hit single “All About That Bass” that helped her embrace the skin she’s in.
“I was like, this is what I wish I felt like,” she said in the interview. “I wish I was all about the bass and all about my curves, and I was like, this is not how I feel.”
Now the 22-year-old pop star isn’t shying away from her curves. She's skipping the corsets on photo shoots, telling the magazine, “I want to show off what I got!”
“Now we see her showing off her body a little bit more,” Seventeen’s Editor-in-Chief Michelle Tan told ABC News. “She says she likes tight dresses that really show off her curves, and she’s really owning who she is.”
