Riley Keough's Husband Is 'Cool' About Her Playing a High-End Escort in 'The Girlfriend Experience'

— -- Riley Keough, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, joined “Good Morning America” today to discuss her new role in “The Girlfriend Experience,” in which she stars as a law student moonlighting as a high-end call girl.

“'The Girlfriend Experience' is essentially an escort but you’re also paying for other things. She’s pretty much being a girlfriend,” the 26-year-old rising star explained. “They take them to dinner or on a vacation. It’s kind of more emotional, sort of like a therapist.”

The upcoming Starz series, which premieres April 10, is inspired by Steven Soderbergh’s 2009 film of the same name.

Keough said she was drawn to the role because “you don’t really get to play complex characters as a woman very often.”

Keough, who recently married Australian stuntman Ben-Smith Petersen, explained that her husband is “cool” about her playing the sexually explicit character because “he’s in the industry as well so he understands.”

As for what it was like growing up as Elvis' granddaughter, Keough said, “There were pictures in the house and his music was always around. And kids in school would always ask me about it, so as far back as I can remember I was always aware of it.”
