Designing for the Senses: Colors

Oct. 6, 2006— -- There are some great ways to incorporate fall colors in to your home without having to redesign your life. From accessories, such as pillows and throws, to kitchenware, shower curtains and floral arrangements, the fall season is not meant to be dark and dreary.

On the contrary, it is about inviting dinner parties with family and friends, wonderful aromas drifting through the home and wrapping yourself in a luxurious blanket when the weather turns cold.

ORANGE

Orange is a strong and vibrant color commonly associated with enthusiasm, strength, security, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation.

RED

Red is associated with energy, strength, power, determination, passion and love. Red accessories in design are about bringing the concepts to the foreground.

GREEN

Green is the color of nature, symbolizing growth.

YELLOW

The color of the sun is associated with joy and happiness. It is a color with lots of warmth and energy.

BROWN

Brown is the natural color of the Earth and a color commonly used in design through wood and leather. It often represents dependability and stability.
