Stars Shed the Baby Weight
In a matter of months, model Heidi Klum regained her sleek and slim figure.
Aug. 19, 2007 -- From baby bumps to baby weight, the celebrity pregnancy watch has become a cottage industry in Hollywood.
Now, Heidi Klum has sent the entertainment press abuzz. Just six months after giving birth to her third child, she has regained her supermodel figure and shows it off in new Jordache jeans ads.
"You would never guess that Heidi Klum is a woman with three children," said Dina Sansing of Us Weekly. "She looks amazing. Her youngest son is under 1 year old and she really has bounced back. She looks better than ever."
For ordinary moms, losing that extra baby weight can be a daunting and seemingly endless task.
Some said they didn't have time to exercise like they used to before having children.
"I'm too busy feeding my baby to take care of myself," one mother said.
But Hollywood stars like Angelina Jolie, Denise Richards and Kate Hudson have managed to reclaim their pre-pregnancy figures in what seems like record time.
"Celebrity moms have a lot more resources than the regular mom," Sansing said. "They have trainers that come in four to five times a week to make sure they're doing the right exercises. They have chefs that cook them healthy small meals."
There's also the additional motivation of their profession, which requires them to look good for the red carpet or in the case of Klum, for a multimillion-dollar ad campaign.
"I think we have to understand these celebrities have greater motivation," said personal trainer Valerie Waters, who helped Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Garner get back in shape after their babies.
She suggested noncelebrity moms start at home when they think about shedding their extra pounds.
"We want to do things that are easy to find but has the most bang for the buck," she said.
She said step-up exercises are good for the backside and a resistance band around the ankles can help make the most of squats.
Waters said women can begin an exercise regimen a few weeks after giving birth.
