Best New Bras and Tips for the Perfect Fit

A Glamour mag editor shares tips and shows best new bra styles for this season.

March 18, 2008— -- One in every three American women wears the wrong size bra, according to Glamour magazine.

To help make sense of the endless styles and sizes to choose from, fashion editor Suze Yalof Schwartz and her team of experts offer these tips to keep in mind on your next shopping trip.

The most important thing is that your bra goes straight across your back. If it flies up that means it's stretched out.

When you're going with a strapless, you have to be one size down on the back and one size large in the front (if you're a 34B you would really buy a 32C).

Make sure when you buy your bra it's on the very last hook, because it's going to stretch out.

On "Good Morning America," Schwartz showed off her three favorite new bras from this season that are sure to help you get the comfort, cleavage and curves you're looking for.

Maidenform Backless Bra, $32

Works well for women of all bust sizes, especially women with larger busts.

Silicone on the wire channel prevents slippage.

Colors: black and nude, sizes 34B to 38DD

As seen on ABC's hit TV show "American Inventor," the Breakthrough Backless Bra from Maidenform is coming in April. This bra can be worn under a variety of backlesses and low-back fashions. The bra is expertly crafted with silicone on the wire channeling to prevent slippage. The seamless molded foam cups provide a natural shape on the body and are smooth under clothes. They are now available for preorder. Click here to see the Breakthrough Backless Bra on Maidenform.com.

SPANX Bra-llelujah, $62

Hosiery back retains its shape.

Front closure

Colors: black and nude, sizes 32A to 38D

It's the first-ever hosiery back bra with molded underwire cups. Unlike elastic found in most bras, the special hosiery back of Bra-llelujah always retains its shape. (Elastic back bras can dig in and cause bra bulging under your arms and on the sides of your back, and it will eventually stretch out.) Naturally-adjusting soft hosiery straps blend in like a second skin; so, no more visible bra lines or back fat. Front closure means no annoying metal hooks and clasps digging into your back — and showing through your clothes. Soft, full coverage, underwire cups provide uplifting support for an invisible look under tops. Click here to see the SPANX Bra-llelujah Full Coverage Front Closure Bra.

Victoria's Secret BioFit, $42-45

Personalized fit per cup size.

Colors: neutrals and brights, sizes 32B-C, 34-36A-DD, 38B-D

Victoria's Secret has taken everyday sexy to a whole new level by designing a bra that is personalized for each cup size for the ultimate naturally enhanced silhouette. For example, the placement of the padding in an A cup BioFit is more pronounced than in the C cup, which has considerably less. This cup is also shaped differently and positioned in a different part of the cup. The BioFit comes in a variety of sassy, bright spring colors like Hot Lips, Sugared Violet and Captain Navy. Wacoal iBra, $50

Stitchless, seamless and tagless

Extremely lightweight

Sizes 32B-36D

Sleek, sexy and sophisticated, the iBra is designed with the most technologically advanced fabrics and manufacturing techniques. The iBra is the first completely stitchless, seamless and tagless contour bra available in the United States. The underwire is comfortably hidden and sealed between fabric layers, so there is never any exposed wire or stitching against the body. Click here to see the Wacoal iBra.

Le Mystere's Dos Nu Convertible Low Back Bra 1155, $56

Can be worn three ways

Clear, fully adjustable straps

Colors: black and nude, sizes 32A-36 DD

The Dos Nu Convertible Low Back bra is a smooth, moulded, deep plunge cup bra that comes with multiple straps. It can be worn three ways with some of your sexiest tops: crisscross, halter and wide set, and is constructed from high-tech seamless, smooth microfiber. Once you've found the perfect bra, it's important to wash it carefully so that it doesn't lose its shape. Throwing it in the machine will disform most moulded cups, but handwashing is also a pain. Instead, try popping your bra into the Bra Ball and then tossing that into the machine. Click here to see the Bra Ball.
