'Bachelorette' Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski Share Wedding Plans
The couple dish on the show, Reid's return and cuddling in front of cameras.
July 29, 2009 -- In their first live joint interview, "Bachelorette" Jillian Harris and her fiance, Ed Swiderski, told "Good Morning America" that they're excited to go public with their relationship and that they plan to get married in Canada in the next year and a half.
The happy couple answered questions from viewers and "GMA" staffers about the show and their relationship.
One viewer asked when Harris knew that Swiderski was "the one." She said, "I do remember when it was down to final three … as soon as I looked at him, I knew I could never let this guy go."
Another asked about whether the couple would move in together.
"She's going to come to Chicago," Swiderski, 29, said. "We are probably going to get hitched in the next 12 to 18 months."
"This has all been very natural for both of us," Harris, 30, added. "We'll probably get married up in Canada."
"GMA's" Emily O'Donnell asked whether Harris was surprised when third-place contestant Reid Rosenthal returned in the finale.
Harris said she knew she wanted to be with Swiderski. "[Reid] is a wonderful guy, and I definitely didn't expect it."
Ed also said he didn't know that Reid would be returning.
And what about all that cuddling and kissing in front of the cameras, "GMA's" Ronna Waldman asked.
"I wasn't nervous," Swiderski said jokingly, referring to the fact that the spark didn't quite fly on the couple's first night alone together. "It was strange. You've got a whole crew always around you."
On the "After the Final Rose" special, which aired last night, Harris said that after sending second-place finisher Kiptyn Locke home and rejecting Reid's proposal, she was nervous that Swiderski wouldn't ask her to marry him. But he said he knew earlier in the season during their trip to Spain that he would propose if he made it to the final rose ceremony.
"[My ending] was very, very happy," Harris said. "I thought I was going to pass out" when he proposed.
Locke said, "I don't have any hard feelings" but asked if there was anything he could have done differently that might have changed the outcome.
"You never did anything wrong," Jillian said, surprised by how emotional she was seeing him for the first time since the show wrapped up taping.
Rosenthal, who Jillian sent home because he didn't express his feelings for her, also appeared on "After the Final Rose" and discussed his surprise return and proposal in the finale.
"I thought she was going to say yes," he said, adding that "of course" he still loves her. "I'm still upset."
"Was there a part of you that wanted to say yes?" Reid asked Jillian. "If I told you how I felt earlier would it change anything?"
Jillian said she was confident she made the right decision, but acknowledged it was difficult to face Reid.

Rosenthal accepted her decision and said "you seem happy." When asked if he had any other questions to ask, he joked that he had a few that weren't appropriate to bring up on television.
"One of them was about the fantasy suite," he joked, referring Jillian and Ed's first night together.
"There are definitely no bedroom problems," Jillian said later in the special. "We can't get enough in the bedroom!"
She also said that she was "a big fan" of Swiderski's tiny green swim trunks that generated much discussion among "Bachelorette" fans.
On the finale of "The Bachelorette," Jillian professed passionate feelings for three suitors: Kiptyn, the sweet surfer; Ed, the workaholic who realized he was missing out on love; and Reid, who said "I love you" just a little too late.
While she had undeniable chemistry with soft-spoken business developer Kiptyn, she wasn't quite as sure of his feelings for her.
Ed, the technology consultant, left the show mid-season because of worries about his career, but came back professing his love for the plucky Canadian brunette.
Just when she was about to make her choice, the show threw Jillian an emotional curve ball: Noncommital Realtor Reid reappeared with a ring and a proposal.
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do," she said, but ultimately she chose the one who never had the problem saying how he felt.
"There is no doubt in my mind that I love you," she told Ed tearfully. "I wanted to tell you for so long."
Ed, who had asked Jillian's father for his blessing to propose marriage, got down on one knee and presented her with a diamond engagement ring.
"I want you to be with me forever," he said.
She accepted with glee and jumped into his arms, shouting "Absolutely!"

Jillian told ABCNews.com before the finale aired that it would be "dramatic" but with a "brilliant and positive" ending.
"I'm a real girl and I will be making a decision that will affect my life positively," she said. "What fans should be happy about is I've made a decision that I am extremely happy with."
She added that "as every day goes by, I wake up more and more excited."
Jillian's journey through love has been a dramatic one, staying true to franchise history.
Other memorable testosterone-filled men vying for Jillian's heart included Tanner ("the one with the foot fetish"), Juan ("the one hated by all the men"), David ("the front-runner turned aggressive one") and Wes ("the one with the alleged girlfriend").
If Jillian and Ed tie the knot, they would be only the second "Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" couple to make it down the aisle. Trista Rehn, who came in second on the first season of "The Bachelor" and was the original "Bachelorette," married her pick, Ryan Sutter.
Today, the couple has two children.
