May 4, 2009 -- Question: At what age might one expect to see the beginning stages of Alzheimer's?
Answer: The No. 1 risk factor for Alzheimer's disease is increasing age. So, the longer we live the more likely we are to develop Alzheimer's disease. In fact, about 90 percent of people who have Alzheimer's disease are 75 years or older. However, Alzheimer's also can begin at younger ages. Although this is much rarer, it can be very devastating in these young adults.
