Answer: The use of oxygen in asthma is generally not a required treatment. When individuals have an acute, severe asthma episode, severe enough to take them to the emergency department of a hospital or to be hospitalized, then it's likely that oxygen would be administered. But for the ordinary asthma patient, supplemental oxygen is rarely necessary.
