How Do I Best Deal With The Stigma Associated With A Diagnosis Of Bipolar Disorder?
Dr. Findling answers the question: 'Dealing With Stigma Of Bipolar Disorder?'
-- Question: How do I best deal with the stigma associated with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder?
Answer: I think that really varies from somebody, from person to person. For some people, they deal with the stigma by being outspoken and trying to fight the good fight and right the wrong of the stigma. And for some people that's a really good fit.
For other people who are a bit more perhaps reserved, they may not actually be able to go out and fight the good fight and speak out to fight the stigma. And for them, generally, for them it's a better fit to be a little bit more quiet and perhaps to only share their concerns or their difficulties with those they trust the most and care about the most.
