-- Question: What is depression (or major depressive disorder)?
Answer: Depression is an emotional disorder that causes impairment in a person's ability to function in their social environment, in their relationships, in their work, and in activities that they do for fun.
They're just not able to do these activities because of this disorder of their emotions that paralyzes them, that causes them to feel so sad and so unmotivated and so unable to experience pleasure that they just can't function.
