Dec. 18 -- (HealthDay News) -- Chronic renal failure is a serious condition that, over time, causes the kidneys to stop working properly.
The University of Virginia Health System offers this list of conditions that could lead to chronic renal failure:
Damage to the kidneys in people with diabetes.Persistent high blood pressure.The autoimmune disease lupus.A lingering blockage in the urinary tract.Hereditary conditions such as cystinosis or Alport syndrome.Nephrotic syndrome.Polycystic kidney disease.Inflammation of structures inside the kidneys.
