Aug. 5 -- (HealthDay News) - Bath time can be fun for baby, but parents must make sure that it's a safe experience, too.
The Nemours Foundation offers this advice about buying baby's first tub:
Ensure that the tub has a slip-resistant backing that prevents movement.Ensure that the tub is made from thick, sturdy plastic that doesn't buckle from the weight of baby and bath water.Skip products that include features such as flotation devices, bath rings, or a suction-cup seat that doesn't have a safety belt. Avoid products with a foam cushion that baby could pull apart and eat.Choose tubs with smooth edges -- nothing rough that could cut baby.Consider a tub with convenient storage spots for shampoo and soap.Never leave baby unattended in the tub, for even a second, the foundation warns.
