How Will Supraventricular Tachycardia Affect My Life -- Particularly Work and Exercise?

Dr. Steve Hammill answers the question: 'How Will SVT Affect My Life?'

— -- Question: I was diagnosed with SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) How much will this affect my life -- particularly work and exercise?

Answer :Well in general supraventricular tachycardia is a benign problem. It means an inappropriately rapid rate involving the upper heart chamber, above the ventricle -- what we call supraventriclar. But the spells are usually intermittent, don't last long, and should not affect quality of life or activity level. If they do, then you need to see the physician.
