Are Chemotherapy Treatments Usually Given In The Hospital, At The Doctor's Office or At Home?
Dr. Anthony Elias answers the question: 'Where Is Chemo Normally Administered?'
-- Question: Are chemotherapy treatments usually given in the hospital, at the doctor's office or at home?
Answer: Most chemotherapy is given as an outpatient in the clinic. Usually it's given on a particular schedule, such as once a week, or other schedules that are based every three or four weeks. Rarely do we give specialized regimens in the hospital. These would be typically more intensified and usually investigational. There are some forms of chemotherapy now that are given orally, and those, of course, can be taken at home by prescription.
