— -- Here at Duke University, we have a multidisciplinary pain clinic that involves a group of anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, psychologists, all working to better manage a patient's pain.

We are currently actively enrolling patients in an occipital nerve stimulator trial using an implanted nerve stimulator to better manage the patient's chronic daily headaches. We also have a very active biofeedback research department that is looking into better ways to manage a patient's pain using biofeedback techniques.

Other areas of interest here at Duke include implantable medication pumps that directly deliver pain medications to the spinal cord and implantable nerve stimulators that directly stimulate the nerve, spinal cord, and in some circumstances, the brain, for better pain control.
