Answer: Additional treatment after a radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer via any approach, be it radical retropubic, radical perineal, laparoscopic open or robotic is dependent on your PSA, your stage, your grade, your pathology result from your surgery. It is also dependent upon the PSA after the surgery and your margins, the stage of the disease. Once they all are available to your urologist or urologic oncologist they will discuss with you the different options. Now the options can range from doing nothing but just checking PSAs to getting additional radiation therapy, hormone therapy or chemotherapy.
