Will The Radiation I Receive During Treatment Cause Cancer Later In Life?

Eric Horwitz, M.D., Fox Chase Cancer Center

Jan. 01, 2009 -- Question: Will the radiation I receive during treatment cause cancer later in life?

Answer: The question if radiation causes cancer after it's been used to treat cancer is a very common question. Several studies have been done in the United States, including one done here at Fox Chase Cancer Center and we have shown that there is no increased risk for the development of cancer for men who receive radiation for their prostate cancer treatment.
