Dr. Tarun Jolly answers the question: 'What Is A Trigger Injection?'
-- Question: What Is A Trigger Injection And When Might I Need One?
Answer: A trigger point injection is an injection that doesn't go in or around the spinal cord. It's usually presented at a specific point that's inflamed or irritated and causing pain in your back or otherwise.
The injection is done with typically local anesthesia, with or without a steroid that's involved, and can be used primarily for musculoskeletal-type pain, things like aches, or any area that may be isolated as a specific pinpoint for pain generation.
