What Kind Of Pain Is Best Treated With Acupuncture?
Dr. Edward Paul answers the question: 'Acupuncture Works Best For What Pains?'
-- Question: What Kind Of Pain Is Best Treated With Acupuncture?
Answer: The types of pain that are best treated with acupuncture tend to be the most common types of pain list that we've talked about previously, and that includes back pain, neck pain, joint pain, and headache pain are the most common things that most acupuncturists treat in their setting; whether it's in an office-setting or in a more traditional clinic such as back in China.
The effectiveness of acupuncture, or the treatment protocol for acupuncture, is not typically an on-off switch kind of an effect so treating a patient -- a new person -- for pain with acupuncture is something that evolves over the course of the series of treatments. And to determine whether acupuncture is really effective in treating pain, it really takes several visits to really come to that conclusion -- a minimum of, say, four to five visits in my own practice, and maybe up to six to eight visits in other practices.
So, it's more of a whole body treatment that is very effective for pain, and I find it to be a very safe and useful modality in my own practice.
