Question from Charles in Philadelphia, PA: I am a 51 year old man in great shape but I would love to get rid of my belly fat and love handles. I'm about 10lbs.overweight. My question is where to start to find the right treatment for me and, the proper professional to perform this. Please help.

A: It is important to be aware of your dietary lifestyle and eating habits for that is the only means to achieve long term success and weight maintenance. You can find more information on Cool Sculpting by Zeltiq at www.coolsculpting.com.

Question from Sharon in Spotswood, NJ: I am 52 years old and losing weight, but the biggest problem is my stomach. It doesn't seem to get smaller. It is source of embarrassment, not to mention it is the only part of my clothing I have problems with. How safe is the freezing procedure? I know it is fairly new, but how long does it last?

A: Cool Sculpting is very safe. The cool temperatures do not affect the muscles or nerves. There is no elevation of the triglycerides or cholesterol in the blood during the fat elimination. As far as we know, the fat does not return to the location where the procedure has been performed.

Question from Greg in Karlstad, MN: I have red veins that appear around my nose and on my face what is the best way to get rid of them.

A:The red veins are broken vessels. They come from sun exposure and from inflammation of the skin, also common in people with rosacea. In our practice, we use the Cool Glide laser by Cutera to treat this problem. Patients usually have 1 to 3 treatments to eliminate the red veins.

Question from Janice in Pensacola, FL: How do I locate a doctor in my area who would have expertise in the two procedures shown in today's program?

A: You can go to the Cool Sculpting by Zeltiq website, www.coolsculpting.com and the Thermage website, www.thermage.com for more information.

Question from Christine in Bergenfield, NJ: I am an older woman and have lines around my mouth and jowls but I am unable to get a face lift because I am on blood thinners for my heart. I would very much like some info as to what alternatives I have.

A: For lines around the mouth we use Botox on the upper lip to prevent repetitive crinkling. We also use fine line filler of hyaluronic acid or lasers like the Medlite C6 to treat this issue. Additionally, Thermage is ideal for tightening of jowls and neck. All of these are great non-invasive treatments for facial rejuvenation.
