How to Snack and Still Lose Weight

Here are 16 mouthwatering snacks that are actually good for you.

Jan. 4, 2011 — -- We all snack. But eating the right snack can reduce the amount of unwanted calories that can go to all the wrong places. The 16 options below can help you choose foods that can help you reach our weight goals:

Popcorn. Stay away from the buttery versions to keep it healthy, but popcorn can be a great alternative to chips.

Kale Chips. The name doesn't do them justice but believe or not, these chips are tasty and full of nutrients!

Veggies. Get that same crisp crunch with a number of veggies: baby carrots, sugar snap peas, celery and bell peppers for example.

Pita Chips. Try them as whole grain to get the most nutrients.

Salted Cucumber Slices. Very refreshing and with just a little salt, you can spice them up to give you the salty crunch you crave.

Ants on a Log. Celery, peanut butter and raisins. Enough said.

Whole Wheat Pretzels. Can be just as good as chips without being unhealthy! In moderation of course.

Almonds. Get some protein AND fiber when snacking on these nuts.

Cashews. Try the unsalted version for an even healthier boost.

Trail Mix. Mix up your favorite healthy snacks for a tasty treat. Maybe with nuts, pretzels, and dried fruits.

Whole Grain Crackers. They'll fill you up faster and are better for you than regular crackers.

Sunflower Seeds.

Peanuts.

Fruit Chips. Made the same way as potato chips but with FRUIT!

Veggie Chips. Try them baked for even more nutrients.

Pickles. Eat them in moderation due to all the sodium, but they can definitely satisfy your salty craving.
