Statement by Dr. Peter Cressy, President and CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States

Sept. 13, 2012 — -- The alcohol industry is totally opposed to underage drinking. Working together, significant progress has been made. According to the latest U.S. government data, underage drinking and binge drinking by teenage boys and girls have reached historic lows.

As a former college president, I know firsthand that continuing this progress takes tough law enforcement, education and most importantly parental involvement. These are solutions that our industry actively supports.
