Eight-Year-Old Girl With Rare Breast Cancer Has Mastectomy

Chrissy Turner was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer.

Chrissy Turner was diagnosed with secretory breast carcinoma last month. The cancer is extremely rare and accounts for less than 1 percent of all breast cancer cases, according to a report in the Pediatric Surgery International Journal.

Yesterday Chrissy underwent a mastectomy and had lymph nodes removed to treat the cancer, just weeks after her diagnosis, according to Chrissy's mother Annette Turner.

"She’s doing pretty good, pain managing right now. She has a little bit more pain than yesterday," Turner told ABC News.

"She’s been really brave and this is a big person’s surgery for such a little girl," said Tuner. "She’s been through a lot."
