Kate Middleton's First Wedding Proposal
April 11,2011, 2011 -- When the prince proposed to Kate Middleton, it was not the first time her heart was aflutter for a man named William. It wasn't even Kate's first marriage proposal by a William. When the bride-to-be was 13, and a student at St. Andrews in Buckhold, a palm reader told her that a rich and handsome man would fall in love with her and marry her.
"Will he take me away from here?" she asked.
"Yes, to London."
"That's all I ever hoped for," the young future princess breathlessly told the fortune teller, who then hastily exited the stage to make way for the suitor named…. "William."
True, "William" was a fellow youth at St. Andrews, and a fellow actor in "Murder in the Red Barn," a play written by one of the school's teachers. And that "William" was merely a rich landowner, he was no prince.
Still, it's "sort of a bit prophetic," said Kinsley Glover, who played Kate's first "William" in the production, which was captured on home video. "Having watched that again now, you just sort of think, my God, that's quite odd, isn't it?"
Glover remembers the precocious young Kate as keen on theater, having performed in several school plays. "She was very nice, and she never had a bad word to say about anybody...She's lovely."
