Prince's New Post and a Royal Role for Dakota Fanning
February 10, 2011 -- It appears that Prince William is stealing fashion headlines from his bride-to-be. Turns out he may not be waiting for Kate Middleton at the altar in his Royal Air Force uniform after all. Queen Elizabeth II announced today that William has been appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards. His new honorary post means that the Prince may be wearing red instead of Air Force blue for his wedding at Westminster Abbey. The ceremonial uniform for the army division is a bright cherry-colored jacket with black slacks, sometimes topped with a bearskin hat and a gold leather chinstrap. There was no sign of William at his fiancée's very public meal with her stepmother-to-be on Wednesday. Kate and Camilla hunkered down for a lengthy lunch at a chic London hotspot accompanied by Kate's sister Pippa and Camilla's daughter Laura. Kate's not the only one getting movie star treatment. Lifetime is reportedly already in production on a television movie detailing her love story with Prince William, and now there's word that a big screen film about the Queen and her sister as teenagers is underway. American actress Dakota Fanning is already signed to star as the young Princess Margaret in "Girls' Night Out." The flick will follow the two princesses during a night on the town celebrating the end of World War II.
From the big screen to the small screen, there's chatter that Will and Kate may show off their comic timing on Red Nose Day in mid-March. It's the occasion when Comic Relief takes over British primetime and invites celebrities to "do something funny for money." Past sketches that have helped rake in donations for charity include Mr. Bean crashing a wedding and a raft of stars spoofing megahit Mamma Mia!
