9 Arrested in London Part of Investigations into 'Islamist Related Terrorism'

— -- Police in London arrested nine men today as part of ongoing investigations into "Islamist related terrorism," the city's Metropolitan Police Service said in a statement.
The men -- ranging in age from 22 to 51 -- are accused of being members of a banned group and encouraging terrorism.
Several homes and businesses in London were also being searched, police said.
The statement said that the arrests and searches "are not in response to any immediate public safety risk."

The arrests come a day after British Prime Minister David Cameron told the U.N. General Assembly that he planned to ask Parliament to approve joining airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq. Earlier this week, the U.S. began airstrikes against ISIS in Syria.
