Brussels Airport Video Captures Smoke and Sirens Seconds After Bombing
Video pans from devastating fire to the abandoned room.
-- Video from inside Brussels Airport captures screams, sirens and smoke, revealing the raw and terrifying scene seconds after Tuesday's deadly explosions in the departure hall.
The video pans from the devastating fire and rising smoke to the abandoned, demolished room.
One survivor, Ketevan Kardava, said everyone scattered and wept, and "old people were on the floor."
A few seconds later, she heard another explosion.
"It was such terrible sounds ... we were waiting for the third one, you know, and don’t know what to do," she said.
Mason Wells, a 19-year-old U.S. Mormon missionary who was injured in the airport attack, told ABC News he was about 10 to 15 meters away from the blast.
“I remember being picked off the ground and I had some really hot and really cold sensations on the whole right side of my body, the burns,” Wells said. “I felt fire in front of my face and also down the front of me.”
Wells called himself “lucky” to just have the injuries he sustained, which are said to include a ruptured Achilles tendon, shrapnel injures, as well as second- and third-degree burns on his face and hands.
Thirty-one people died from the attacks at the airport and metro subway.
