-- The man in a striking picture from the Brussels attacks is a former professional basketball player in Belgium who also played college basketball in the U.S., officials said today.
Sebastian Bellin, 37, was injured in the attacks on the Brussels airport, according to his former team, BC Telenet Oostende. A picture of him lying prone on the ground with a severe injury to his leg has been circulating on multiple news websites after the attack.
Bellin is currently undergoing surgery after being hit with shrapnel in his hip and leg, according to the team's Twitter account. Bellin, who is of Brazilian and Belgian descent, played for the Oakland Grizzlies before playing in Europe, according to ESPN.
Greg Kampe, who coaches the Golden Grizzlies at Oakland University, tweeted his support of Bellin and said his former player is going into his second surgery for his injuries.
