Brussels Station Hit by March Suicide Attack Reopens

The Maelbeek subway station was the site of a terrorist bomb blast last month.

All 69 subway stations are now operating as usual in the Belgian capital, although extra security measures remain in place, STIB, the company running the subway, said.

At Maelbeek, the targeted station, only two exits are open. Military and police officers are stationed and on patrol throughout public transport locations.

Many commuters today stopped on their way to work to write messages on a wall of remembrance set up by the STIB.

Members of a commission investigating the attacks have already visited the two bomb sites -- Maelbeek and Brussels Airport -- and are expected to deliver a report recommending security improvements.
