Aerial Video Shows Italian Town Devastated by Earthquake

Authorities said at least 159 people have died.

The video takes in the town — where buildings stand next to others that were destroyed — as well as the fields and trees beyond the town and the mountains in the distance. The video does not specify the town.

The central Italian towns of Accumoli and Amatrice were hard hit by the earthquake, which struck at about 3:30 in the morning.

In Amatrice, the damage was so extensive that its mayor told The Associated Press, "The town isn't here anymore."

Tremors were felt as far away as Rome, more than 100 miles from the quake's epicenter.

Rescue workers today are searching through the rubble. The death toll has reached 159.
