Eagles of Death Metal Searching For Band and Crew After Attack on Paris Concert Hall

Eagles of Death Metal were performing in Paris before the hall was attacked.

— -- The American rock band Eagles of Death Metal was playing on stage at a Parisian concert venue when attackers took control of the theater, according to the brother of one of the band members.

The group -- originally based out of Palm Desert, California and made up of a rotating cast of musicians -- tweeted that they were still trying to account for all of the members and crew.

Gunmen took control of the theater, Le Bataclan, and eventually took the audience hostage, though some members of the band were able to escape, the bandmate's brother said.

Michael Dorio, the brother of band member, Julian Dorio, who was taking part in the European tour, told ABC affiliate WSB-TV that the musicians were in the middle of their set when the attack started.

"He said they were playing, about six songs into the show, they heard, before they saw anything, they heard automatic machine gunfire," Michael Dorio told WSB. "It was so loud, it was louder than the band, and they hit the stage floor."

"As they got up to try to evacuate they saw men with machine guns just shooting anything and everything in the venue," Dorio said.

Julian Dorio told his brother that he and some members of the band and crew escaped through a back door.
