European Cities Face Gridlock as Cabbies Protest Against Uber
Ride-share app opponents also take to the streets in Berlin, Paris and Madrid.
June 11, 2014— -- Traffic in some European cities was more congested than ever today as thousands of taxi drivers took to the streets to protest the popular ride-sharing service Uber Technologies, Inc.
More than 4,000 drivers of London's iconic black cabs rallied in the city today, London transportation officials said. And there were similar protests in Berlin, Paris and Madrid, according to the Wall Street Journal. Taxi drivers claim that Uber is operating without a legal license.
In addition to London, Madrid and Barcelona are experiencing gridlock too.
