Massive 4-Lane Sinkhole in Ottawa Swallows Car, Forces Evacuations
A city spokesperson said the cause of sinkhole is undetermined at this time.
-- Several buildings, including a shopping center, convention center and a hotel, near the Canadian parliament in Ottawa were evacuated today after a massive sinkhole on a four-lane street swallowed a vehicle and led to a gas leak.
Ottawa police confirmed to ABC News that there were no reported injuries or casualties. The area was already closed to traffic before the sinkhole opened up because of ongoing construction work.
A spokesperson with the city told ABC News that the cause of the sinkhole is undetermined as of yet, but investigations continue.
According to The Guardian, Ottawa police said it was triggered by a water-main break. Police would not comment on the cause to ABC News.
