McDonald's Selling Limited Edition Special Sauce for First Time
Try it at home on your lasagna or Hungarian goulash.
-- At long last, what McDonald's fans have been waiting for their whole lives: 25-milliliter tubes of Big Mac Special Sauce all to yourself.
"For too long Big Mac Special Sauce has been trapped in a beautiful, delicious burger – now we’ve set it free!" the company cheerfully announced.
Slurp it up, folks, because for the first time ever, McDonald's bottled up its beloved special sauce, roughly an ounce per tube, and started selling it in Australia today, and only at Australia stores until sold out.
"Big Mac sauce is one of the most iconic McDonald’s ingredients and people often ask us where they can buy it, so we’re excited to be the first country in the world to offer tubs of Big Mac sauce to our customers," McDonald’s CMO Australia Mark Lollback told the UK Metro newspaper.
So iconic, in fact, McDonald's is using it to raise money for its charity arm. A larger limited edition bottle of the special sauce - 1 of 200 - has been listed on eBay to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
"With 500 ml to play with, you’ll have enough to impress your friends at dinner parties, cheat your way to cooking show fame, and get elected as Prime Minister!" according to the auction site listing.
It continues: "Everything tastes better when it tastes like the Big Mac."
"Your mum’s amazing lasagne… better!Your boyfriend’s gross lasagne… better!Hungarian Goulash… better!"
The bottle boasted a high bid of about $18,000 this morning.
If you don't live in Australia, don't despair. In 2012, McDonald's Executive Chef Dan Coudreaut released a YouTube video demonstrating step-by-step how to recreate the 40-year-old Big Mac and special sauce in your home kitchen.
We'll save you the time with this shopping list for the sauce: mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, classic yellow mustard, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. Chef Coudreaut makes it look easy.
