Mexican Soccer Star Alan Pulido Taken by Armed Men After a Party in His Hometown, Official Says

— -- A search is under way for Mexican soccer star Alan Pulido, who was taken by armed men after he left a party early Sunday morning in his hometown of Ciudad Victoria in northern Mexico, an official said.
After the party, 25-year-old Pulido "was intercepted by armed men, and since then his whereabouts are unknown," Ismael Quintanilla, the Tamaulipas state prosecutor, told reporters today in Spanish.
Officials at the local, state and federal level are involved in the search, Quintanilla said.
The Associated Press reported that the soccer player was kidnapped, citing an unnamed state official. The AP said authorities did not provide more details about the kidnapping or potential motive.
Ruben Dario of the Tamaulipas state attorney general's office did not elaborate on the disappearance investigation to ABC News, saying the family requested privacy.
Pulido is currently a forward for Olympiakos of Greece. He was a member of Mexico's World Cup team in 2014.
