Stray Dogs Are Mostly Ignored in Santiago And It’s Heartbreaking

More than 200,000 feral dogs wander the streets of Santiago, Chile.

SANTIAGO, Chile April 4, 2014 -- Look around the streets of Santiago, Chile, and you will be shocked. It's a beautiful capital city, but on most of the streets and parks there are dogs that have no owners or friends.

In bustling Santiago, a sampling of the estimated 200,000 feral dogs can be found in parks, walking the streets, or lying by alleyways.

I have seen this in many places around the world but not in such modern and successful cities like Santiago. It has become a kind of subculture.
