Paris Residents Offer to Open Their Doors to Stranded Strangers Amid Attacks
At least 120 people were killed in the attacks.
-- In the wake of a series of attacks that have left at least 120 people dead in Paris Friday, some turned to social media to open their homes to those who have been stranded in the city.
The shootings, explosions and hostage situation in six attacks led to a state of emergency in France, and police have urged people to stay indoors.
For those stuck in different parts of the city, strangers offered to open their homes to anyone stranded by posting on Twitter with a hashtag, #portouverte, which translates to "Open Door."
During a public address, President Francois Hollande announced that the country is in a state of emergency and their borders would be ordered shut "to make sure that those who've committed these crimes can be stopped if they're trying to leave this territory."
There were at series of attacks throughout the capital city including a hostage situation at a concert venue that led to a police siege. That hostage situation is now over.
