Russian Soccer Federation Fined Over Fan Violence

Russian fans charged England’s fans inside the grounds Saturday night.

— -- UEFA, the administrative body for European soccer, has fined the Russian soccer federation nearly $170,000 over fan-related violence that took place after a 1-1 tie in a match against England Saturday night in Marseille, France.

French authorities this morning started deporting "hyper-violent" Russian soccer fans who were involved in clashes that left dozens of English fans injured. Six Brits received jail sentences and bans from entering France, according to a report in the Telegraph, a British newspaper.

"Charges relating to crowd disturbances, use of fireworks and racist behavior [have] been brought against the RFU," UEFA announced in a statement.
