Monica Lewinsky Gets British TV Deal

N E W  Y O R K, Sept. 24, 2000 -- Monica Lewinsky, whose affair with PresidentClinton made her a celebrity in the United States, will bereporting on American culture for a British television network, herpublicist said today.

The former White House intern has agreed to host six four-minutesegments dubbed “Postcards from Monica” for Britain’s Channel 5,according to Juli Nadler, Lewinsky’s spokeswoman.

Nadler said the segments would be a “lighthearted look atAmerican pop culture for British viewers.” She declined to say howmuch Lewinsky would be paid.

Though the segments will air in November, Lewinsky won’t bereporting on the United States’ major event of that month — thepresidential election.

“Monica’s agreement with ITN, Channel 5, stipulates what hasalways been her position — that she refuses to make any publiccomment on any political issues, including the U.S. elections,”Nadler said.

Clinton’s affair with Lewinsky led to his impeachment trial lastyear in the Senate. He was acquitted.

Since the scandal, Lewinsky has written a book and has startedher own line of handbags.
