Survivors of Downed Plane Found Floating on Life Raft Near the Bahamas
The people were spotted 9 miles southeast of Nassau.
-- Five people who were aboard a downed aircraft were found safe, floating on a life raft off the Bahamas, U.S. Coast Guard crews confirmed.
The life raft was found at around 10:20 p.m. Monday, about 9 miles southeast of Nassau, according to a news release.
The plane, a single-engine Cessna, was reportedly headed to Nassau from Crooked Island, Bahamas.
Rescue crews aboard a MH-60 aircraft spotted the people floating on the life raft, and the Royal Bahamian Defense Force transported them back to the Bahamas, the Coast Guard said.
