Usain Bolt Gets Taken Down by Clumsy Cameraman on Segway After Winning 200m Gold
The takedown happened as Bolt was celebrating his 200m win at Worlds.
— -- Jamaican runner Usain Bolt may have outrun all his competitors when he came in first in the 200-meter race at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing -- but he apparently wasn't fast enough to outrun a clumsy cameraman on a Segway.
Shortly after Bolt finished the race in 19.55 seconds Thursday night, he was taken down by the cameraman, who lost control of his two-wheel vehicle. Video of the collision shows the cameraman hitting a metal rail on the side of the track, veering right into Bolt with both of them falling down backwards.
Bolt was walking on the the edge of the Bird's Nest track and taking in the cheers of the crowd when the unexpected crash happened. He was celebrating his second gold medal of the World Championships Thursday night after previously winning the 100m.
Bolt's American rival, Justin Gaitlin, came in second in both races.
"The rumor I'm trying to start right now is that Justin Gatlin paid him off," Bolt later joked, with Gatlin sitting right next to him. "So, that's what I'm going with."
Bolt told ABC News he was aware the camera was following him and that the cameraman "kept on saying he was sorry."
"Accidents happen, so it was just one of those things," he said. He added that though there was a pain in his leg and that he was "a little bit sore," he was OK.
the cameraman, who hasn't been identified, appeared to be OK as well and didn't suffer any major injuries.
