-- An Australian cameraman survived a harrowing ordeal today after he was carjacked at gunpoint by another man -- and the entire incident was caught on video.
Peter Steer, who works for Australia's 7News, was on his way to cover a shooting -- when his own life became a true crime story.
Steer never thought he would run into the suspected gunman in the very case he was covering.
The suspect had flagged Steer, sobbing and appearing at first to surrender. But when Steer tried to call the police, the suspect pulled out a gun and stole the car.
But Steer had his camera rolling the entire time when the man, who was not identified by name, drove off -- and then crashed into a petroleum tank near a gas station.
The carjacker tried to escape, but he was cornered by police who eventually arrested him.
Steer was fine when interviewed afterwards, saying, "For a cameraman it's the sort of stuff you a dream of I guess, you know. So yeah, I'm fine. I just need a big drink."
