Wife of Indian Politician Dies Days After Twitter Fight Alleging Infidelity

Sunanda Tharoor was reportedly found dead in a five-star hotel.

Jan. 18, 2014— -- The wife of a top Indian politician was found dead in a five-star New Dehli hotel just days after she sent out Twitter messages about a possible affair her husband was having with a journalist, according to the BBC.

Sunanda Tharoor, wife of government minister Shashi Tharoor, was found dead Friday, according to BBC News.

Days earlier, Tharoor's husband appeared to reveal in tweets his affair with a Pakistani journalist.

Sunanda Tharoor began to respond to the implicated reporter, Mehr Tarar, with Tweets accusing her of stalking her husband.

Although Sunanda Tharoor reportedly told media outlets she was thinking about divorcing her husband, she later appeared to change her mind after Shashi Tharoor tweeted that his account had been hacked.

The couple also issued a joint statement on Jan. 16 that they were still together.

"We wish to stress that we are happily married and intend to remain that way," the statement on the couple's Facebook page read. "Sunanda has been ill and hospitalised this week and is seeking to rest."

According to initial reports Sunanda Tharoor was reportedly found in bed in her hotel room.

Hospital officials today called Tharoor's death "sudden and unnatural" after an autopsy, the BBC reported.One of the medical staff also said that there were "injury marks" on her body, but did not specify.

Tharoor's husband Shashi Tharoor was reportedly hospitalized for chest pains after his wife's death, and was released today.

According to the BBC, the medical examiner said that a full report would not be available for a few days.
