World's First All-Glass 'Sky Pool' to Be Suspended High Above London Streets
The 25-meter-long pool will be suspended 10 stories up in the air.
— -- A developer in London claims to be building the world's first all-glass swimming pool suspended between two buildings 10 stories up in the air.
Designed by "Arup Associates," with assistance from aquarium specialists "Reynolds," the 25-meter-long pool, known as the "Sky Pool," will be made of thick glass through which swimmers will be able to see the streets of London below.
"My vision for the Sky Pool stemmed from a desire to push the boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering," said Sean Mulryan, from the company Ballymore, which is working with Arup Associates.
"The experience of the pool will be truly unique, it will feel like floating through the air in central London," Mulryan said in a statement.
The pool is being built above the grounds of the new U.S. Embassy. The location also hosts more than 2,000 luxury flats, designed with the influence of the Meatpacking district in New York.
The addition of the pool could be the result of the recent involvement of "EcoWorld," a Malaysian property investment company who has a joint venture with Ballymore, according to The Guardian newspaper.
