The specialty food shop starts with 12 pounds of Swiss Grand Cru chocolate – made from noble grade Trinitario and Criollo cocoa beans and ethically sourced from Venezuela – that’s then melted down and filled with three layers into two egg halves.
Once glossy and dry, the halves are cemented together with more chocolate and sealed by hand with yet even more chocolate. That’s when the chocolatiers get fancy, bedazzling the outside with candy flowers.
