Artist Makes Incredible Edible Oreo Art

-- Milk’s favorite cookie is also one artist’s favorite palette. Food artist Tischa Cherry has been making clever drawings out of bacon, eggs, jelly, ice cream and more to rack up more than 27,000 followers on Instagram. But it’s her miniature Oreo art that has the most people talking.
As the daughter of a chef, Cherry has always been excited to see unique fusions of ingredients come together to in one distinctive dish.
“I always viewed cooking and meal preparation as art,” Cherry, 30 of New Jersey, told ABC News.
It makes sense, then, that when she twisted apart an Oreo two years ago, it looked like the crème outline of a Nike Dunk to her. It was then that she knew creating original Oreo art was her new hobby.
Cherry’s toolbox includes a toothpick, various knives, a reference photo and the spread of crème fillings she has collected over the past year. Mixing the crèmes together, she can spend anywhere from minutes to hours fashioning the sandwich cookies into edible masterpieces.
Her inspirations for the paintings? Anything related to pop culture and street art. Some past pieces include Grumpy Cat, Vincent Van Gogh, emojis and the New York City skyline.
“I feel like I'm looking at the world through some sort of Oreo crème lens and it's become my favorite medium to express my creativity through,” Cherry said.
And she has no plans to stop crafting the creative cookies.
“As long as I keep enjoying what I do, I'm sure I'll always be inspired to create new things,” she said. “Everything else after that is a bonus.”
