Baby Boy Turns Into David Bowie, Popeye in Dad's Crafty Snapchats

Lukas Costeur of Belgium uses his illustrations as bonding time with his son.

— -- Lukas Costeur, aka "Snapdad" on Tumblr and Facebook, is a product designer and new dad in West Flanders, Belgium.

“We're enjoying every bit of it. Even the harsh sleepless moments,” Costeur, 29, wrote to ABC News of spending time with his 8-week-old. “That's why I started drawing. To make the time he's trying to fall asleep a bit more enjoyable. I'm a product designer, so I’m used to drawing, but mostly product sketches. Now it’s characters, and the difficult part is that I do this on a small smartphone with a normal stylus.”

The doting dad says it takes him about 30 to 45 minutes to finish one of his Snapchat illustrations. “If Snapchat doesn't crash, that is,” he quipped.

Little Felix was born on Nov. 25. One of Costeur’s favorite things about watching his son grow up is “the moments where you notice he ‘learned’ something new, how little they often are,” he explained. “Smiling, grabbing, listening. He's only 8 weeks old so I’m curious to see what abilities he's getting acquainted with.”

Although this Snapdad’s illustrations are a creative activity he really enjoys now, Costeur admitted it’s “something I can't keep doing forever, so right now I'm aiming for 10 weeks.”

That’s only two more weeks of pure cartoon baby enjoyment.

“Next week I’m thinking of doing a villain each week,” said Costeur. “Might be fun to draw him as a little, evil Joker or Captain Hook.”

The proud papa is really looking forward to the day when he explains to Felix what happened “with just some simple drawings [he] made of him.”

“I’d love to see his reaction,” he said.
