Bride Hitchhikes to Her Own Wedding After Limo Gets Flat Tire
"I think the champagne helped," the maid of honor said of the calm bride.
-- This bride’s trip to the aisle was anything but smooth sailing.
On the way to her ceremony with all her bridal party in tow, Angelique Arsenault’s wedding-bound limousine got a flat tire. She wasn’t going to let that slow her down, though, so the bride stuck her thumb out on the side of the road to hitchhike the remaining seven miles to the Brookline, New Hampshire, venue.
“Honestly, for something kind of crazy that happened she was just happy and knew she was going to get there,” Arsenault’s maid of honor, Katie Queen, told ABC News. “And I think the champagne helped. There was a lot champagne flowing.”
The bridal party was stranded on Russell Hill Road for about 15 minutes before a man named Jay, with his car full of kids, pulled over to offer his assistance.
“Jay, the guy who saved the day, came by and said, ‘Let me drop off my kids and I’ll be right back,’” Queen recalled. “He came and he got five of us in the car, the bridal party, and drove us there. We were like, ‘Jay why don’t you come to the wedding?’ He was like, ‘No I’m OK,’ but he was awesome.”
The flat tire caused Arsenault to be about 30 minutes late for the ceremony, but the groom wasn’t worried.
“I’m pretty sure that after 11 years he knew she was going to show up,” Queen joked.
The couple is now honeymooning in Maine.
