Burger Vying for Most American Ever With Patty, Split Hot Dog and Potato Chips on a Bun
It's burger season, people.
-- Memorial Day is around the corner, and that means one thing: It’s burger season, people.
To mark the occasion, meet the self-described “Most American Thickburger.” It features up to half a pound of 100 percent Black Angus beef patty, a split hot dog, Lays Kettle Cooked Potato Chips, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard on a bun. That’s right, a hot dog and chips all on a burger.
The creation, available from Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s starting on May 20, was designed to salute all-things American.
“Nothing is more American than a summertime cook-out with grilled burgers and hot dogs served with potato chips; three classic American favorites that taste great on their own but we thought they might just taste great together, too,” Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s chief marketing officer Brad Haley said in a statement. “If you think about it, hot dogs are cured, just like bacon, and they add a similar taste to the burger, while the Lays Kettle Cooked Potato Chips add a salty crunch that goes really well with the fresh produce and the tangy pickles.”
The brands have offered similar burgers before that combined multiple meats, but this is their favorite yet.
“We’ve introduced several popular ‘meat on meat’ burgers over the years that combine the tastes of great American sandwiches with the taste of a great American burger,” Haley said, “but the combination of a split hot dog, potato chips and a charbroiled 100 percent Black Angus beef patty is, unquestionably, our most American creation yet."
