Check Out These Amazing Sink-or-Swami Underwater Yoga Photos

Fitness expert Scott Cole takes a deep dive into yoga.

— -- Fitness expert Scott Cole took a deep dive into yoga at a friend’s private California home last year to produce these gorgeous photos.

“I shot a yoga and tai chi DVD there a couple of years ago and I always wanted to go back there are try to do some yoga underwater,” Cole said.

Cole and photographer Rusty Lane spent a few hours shooting various yoga poses, or asanas, through the pool’s viewing window. Cole said it took about a minute or so to strike each position and hold it steady.

Certain poses were made easier thanks to the water’s buoyancy. Others required more practice to prevent floating upwards.

“When trying underwater lotus, make sure you can 'un-lotus' rather quickly,” he advised of an asana that requires crossing the legs and propping the feet onto of one's thighs. “You don't want your legs getting stuck in that position while you’re underwater.”
